My favorite part of this paper was the second photograph, and the short essay associated with it. I grew up in Western Massachusetts, and we absolutely worshipped the Fluffernutter sandwich! It became popular when my dad was young, and I grew up eating them as well. The essay reminded me of them: I haven’t had one in so long! I think the photograph helped the writing come to life. It added a face and a personal touch to what otherwise would just be words. I found it really interesting how the photographs helped make the narratives story-like. Without the pictures, they were just words. The pictures helped you to see the story and the people within it. I think that the narratives without the pictures weren’t as successful with painting the picture in the reader’s eyes.
