Learning Outcomes Five and Six
When writing my papers, the part of MLA format that I struggle with most is citing my sources in the proper format. This is something I struggled with throughout high school, and obviously it transferred in my collegiate writing career as well. To combat this issue, I spent a lot of time reading The Little Seagull handbook. In this book, there were many ways that they described the proper use of MLA format, and common errors that were made. They also provided templates that you could use as a reference for your writing, so that you could follow along as your citing your sources. In class, Mr. Miller discussed how an easy way to lose points in regard to MLA format was incorrect use of periods when citing your sources. If you use a period in the wrong location, or forget to add one, it will lose you points in a way that would’ve been easily preventable.
